If you are wondering what is a problem with your ‘caps lock’ on your MacBook Pro keyboard, stop it now… The problem isn’t a problem… The issue has been actually driving me crazy for a while, so I decided to look into recently.
Apparently – as per Apple – it is a feature that makes the ‘caps lock’ button harder to accidentally press when you are typing on a keyboard. Thanks to a few good posts on the Apple support forums (number of people reporting having the issue), I have learned that as it turns out that the ‘caps lock’ on your MacBook Pro was specifically designed that way. Mac Genius confirmed it at the Apple store as well and it is not a manufacturing defect.
It is a software added feature and it cannot be disabled (frankly, I wish I had the option to turn it off). Therefore you should not worry about it, your MacBook Pro is fine and there is no need to call Apple Care, your hardware is just fine. Simply press ‘Caps Lock’ button normally instead of hitting it, because when you do in fact hit the ‘caps lock’, the button will not work at all.
Frankly, I wish things like this would be communicated a little better to the end user. I know it is a small detail, but important. I am pretty sure, it is possibly costing Apple a tone of time and money since they must be getting calls about it.
