I have downloaded Uzu App over the weekend, it is indeed a really fun App. Check out the video Chris Pirillo did while playing with it below:
This is absolutely the coolest iPad app I’ve ever come across. Heck, it’s likely the most awesome App for ANY device – ever. Uzu is a free App for the iPad that lets you create an interactive fireworks show! Uzu is a kinetic multitouch particle visualizer.
WIRED released a new version 1.1 of their iPad App today and it is excellent! The App itself is now free, once you open it, it allows you to purchase a new issue of WIRED magazine full of iPad exclusive content. The best part of it, there is a new, lower price now of $3.99 per issue!
I have stopped reading magazines about couple of years ago, at least on a regular basis. I strongly now believe, I am going to start taking time out to sit down and spend some time each week to “flip” through digital pages of magazines, once again.
If you are crazy about social networking and location based check-in apps like Gowalla or Foursquare, starting today there is a new kid on the block called GetGlue. They are releasing a new App for the iPhone and I am excited about it.
GetGlue is a social network for entertainment, with some 1.5M unique ratings for movies, TV shows, music and books every month. GetGlue users rate things they like and get recommendations based on personal tastes, friends’ favorites and what is most popular now with everyone.
GetGlue for the iPhone or iPad allows users to check-in to their favorite shows, music, movies and books, and see what their friends are enjoying in real-time. With each check-in, users earn points and stickers from GetGlue and major brands. The app also allows users to rate their favorite shows, movies, music and books and receive personalized suggestions. GetGlue app connects friends and fans in real-time around their favorite entertainment, while:
Watching a TV Show
Reading a new bestseller
Listening to a favorite band
Going to see a movie
Playing a video game
Drinking wine
Discussing a topic – sports, celebrity, news & more
Now, I must say, as much I love check-in apps I have recently started to use them less and less. GetGlue app may actually be a very useful tool for sharing info like what I am currently watching on TV or going to see a movie, even what I am currently reading when it comes to books. Check out the intro video of GetGlue below:
List of main features:
Check-in to your favorite shows, movies, music, books and more
Share check-ins with your Twitter and Facebook friends
See what your friends are currently watching, reading or listening to
Earn points, get stickers from GetGlue and major brands, and win free stuff
Rate lists of popular shows, movies, music and books
Get weekly new releases and old favorites picked just for you
Access existing reviews, clips and ratings for > 20M movies, books and albums
Take your favorite entertainment and suggestions with you everywhere
The GetGlue apps is compatible with both iPhone and iPad as well as iPod touch. However like most iPhone apps, GetGlue will work on your iPad however it is not a full screen experience native to iPad unfortunately. Hopefully a new version in near future will support iPad full screen format. You can link your GetGlue app with your Facebook account and Twitter account to share information with your friends and followers. Download GetGlue for free here.
We Rulefor iPad is a very addictive game as we know already… so I am still at it! I have expended my village and upgraded my castle to a small citadel now, re-arranged all the small cottage houses this weekend, added a few more businesses as well. I am really out of space right now to add anything else. If you are playing We Rule, you can add me using “tysonwilliams” as user name.
Here is a lesson on how NOT to design iPad application, courtesy of Rogers, a Canadian Cable, Wireless and Internet provider.
They have recently released Rogers Live 2010 FIFA World Cup app which only seem to work over their wireless connection on iPad 3G, effectively pissing off a lot of loyal, paying customers who happened not use Rogers as a provider for their iPad 3G or they have a Wi-Fi only model.
Comments left by unhappy users speak for themselves, at the time of writing this, there were 59 of one star ratings. Oh, Rogers! We know you love to profit like any other big corporation, but some moves are just not allowed!
Techcrunch is reporting that the iTunes store doubled its size in the last six weeks, a good indication how iPad is taking over where the iPhone left it off. It is huge already and the popularity is only going to grow when more people will embrace it.
During his keynote address at WWDC on Monday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs rattled off some key statistics. Among them was that there are 8,500 native iPad apps. Actually, at the time, Apple had over 9,000, but we’ll let that slide. How do I know how many app there were? Because unlike other stores Apple oversees, they actually posts the number of apps available for the iPad. And that number just hit 10,000.
If you go to the App Store app on the iPad and click on the ‘Release Date’ area, you can see the total for yourself. Along the top of that area, it will read ‘1 – 12 of xxxx’ — ‘xxxx’ being the current number of apps that are built to run on the iPad.
Back at the end of April, it was reported that Apple was approaching 5,000 iPad apps (actually, they were past that number at the time). That means that in about six weeks, the iPad App Store has doubled in size. Given the iPad’s stellar sales, this is hardly a surprise.
Recently though, a number of developers have noted a long-than-usual wait time for app approvals. One is Reeder, an awesome iPad feed reading app (which was just approved after waiting for a couple weeks). One reason for the delay is likely that Apple is trying to get iOS 4-compatible apps approved in time for the launch of that OS (and the new iPhone 4) in a couple of weeks.
