Bolt | Peters and Blurb are honoring the date the first camera phone photo was taken, June 11, 1997, with a one-day conference dedicated to iPhoneography and mobile photography called 1197.
We’re fascinated by the way iPhonegraphy and mobile phone photography is changing photography and mobile device usage, both for work and play. Cameras and the internet are just starting what will be a long future together.
Speakers for the event include Emmy Award-winning journalist Richard Koci-Hernandez, entrepreneur Philippe Kahn, phoneographer Jessica Zollman, photographer Lauren Lemon and several more.
This one-day conference happens October 22, 2011 in San Francisco and tickets are available now. photos by Lauren Lemon

Todd Lappin of Telstar Logistics wrote a really great New York times article about iPhotography, how iPhone photography is emerging as a new art form. The story profiles Doctor Popular of San Francisco, who has been has been experimenting with creative way to shoot photos using an iPhone and a sequence of apps. About the image:Â
Loop member Lorène Bourgeois exhibit of her work Vestiaire/Cloakroom opened at the Harbourfront Centre, project room on the weekend and will run until September 25, 2011.
Vestiaire /Cloakroom presents a series of large-scale drawings and a video, based upon the subject of clothing and its relation to the human body and head.
“Recently, I have been exploring the territory of head and face protection, including gas masks and military helmets. I am interested not only in the social and utilitarian functions of these artifacts, but also in their qualities as physical objects – the way they frame or envelop the body, and the way they disclose or conceal the human form.
“Isolated from their original context, these objects seem to oscillate between functionality and theatricality, between absurdity and threat. It is this tension, the moment when the function of clothing slips into something less recognizable, that I wish to investigate.” (via Loop Gallery)
