Yesterday I walked by this vintage 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air 2-Door Hardtop and I had to stop and take a few photos with my iPhone… What a beauty!

The 1957 Chevrolet is an automobile which was introduced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors in September, 1956. It was available in three series models: the upscale Bel Air, the mid-range “two-ten”, and the “one-fifty”. A two-door station wagon, the Nomad was produced as a Bel Air model. An upscale trim option called the “Delray” was available for two-ten 2-door sedans. It is a popular and sought after classic car. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified. The car’s image has been frequently used in toys, graphics, music, movies and television. The ’57 Chevy, as it is often known, is an auto icon.

Mattebox: An iPhone Camera App modeled after the Konica Hexar:

Mattebox for iPhone from Ben Syverson on Vimeo.

Photographer and developer Ben Syverson has created an iPhone camera app called Mattebox that mimics the Konica Hexar, a luxury point-and-shoot from 1993 that was powerful enough for professionals but simple and intuitive enough for beginners. It’s one of the most beautifully designed camera apps we’ve seen yet, and comes with a number of fancy features baked into it (e.g. dual stage shutter release, highlight recovery, advanced B&W conversion). The app costs $4 over in the iTunes App Store. Mattebox (via TOP)

I would love to have one of these… I love my iPhone for photography and as phone itself. Hope someone at Apple can see this and starting thinking about possibilities!

The Apple iCam is a concept camera by Italian designer Antonio DeRosa that imagines a future where cameras are modular and powered by smartphones. Smartphones have already invaded the compact camera market in recent years, but their small lenses and sensors keep them from being seen as suitable alternatives to more advanced cameras. The iCam camera changes that by adding a large sensor and interchangeable lens system to the mix. Simply attach your iPhone 5 to the case and you’ll have yourself a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a huge LCD screen, fast processor, internet connectivity, and countless photo apps!

Consolidate chargers with this smart solution from Twelve South, perfect idea when you travel or simply have limited amount power plugs available to you:

    Plug_Bug1.jpg

Apple’s portable devices have become increasingly ubiquitous, with people stockpiling laptops, iPhones and iPods that seem to outnumber the world’s available power outlets. The PlugBug by Twelve South—essentially a splitter for the iPad/iPhone charger to attach to the Macbook plug for a streamlined, two-device charging operation—solves a common shortage conundrum.

    Plug_Bug2.jpg Plug_Bug3.jpg

A wall outlet provides a more powerful charge than the computer’s USB, so with the PlugBug your device battery will replenish faster, freeing you from the tether of plugging in and allowing for maximum mobility. PlugBug lets both gadgets charge at maximum capacity simultaneously and, because the design consolidates chargers, you’ll only ever need one plug. No need to charge your Mac? PlugBug can be used on its own as well. It’s a tidy solution to stay organized and powered-up on the go. Available for $35 at Twelve South online.

The limited-run new app puts antique type in your pocket… very cool!

    Amazing-Type-Writer-1.jpg Amazing-Type-2.jpg

Nostalgia is a thing of the future with The Amazing Type-Writer iOS app produced by Devin Chalmers at Doormouse Manufacturing. Mimicking the old-time clickety-clack of a Remington, The Amazing Type-Writer runs on “micro-swingarms” and the “latest in mobile pneumatic tubes technology.” With the app’s moveable carriage, users can hack away cryptic ransom notes or lines from “The Shining,” displayed on a simulated piece of mimeograph paper. Referencing the original QWERTY keyboard, The Amazing Type-Writer captures the bygone look of typed-over letters with a signature “dead key.”

    Amazing-Type-3.jpg

If writer’s block boxes you into a ‘quick brown fox’ quandary the application offers The Typewritten Gallery, a catalogue of textual musings on digital high-quality cardstock to which users can add their musings. Although The Amazing Type-Writer hasn’t re-created the disgruntled crumpled ball of a rejected idea, compositions can be deleted. If you’re pleased with your masterpiece, you can broadcast it to the gallery or share via e-mail. The Amazing Typewriter is available through the iTunes App store and retails for $1.99—only a limited number are available, however, so hurry.

I have got currently six photography books published through Blurb, I was going to add several more but high cost, low interest make me put the idea on hold. However, today they have announced a new e-book format available to the publishers, which seems to a very attractive option for those of us (and there are several million users already) with iPads.

It is a step in a right direction, even though it is limited only to iBook Store on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch (the last two seems the least interesting for photography e-book seller due small screen size). Ultimately, I would like to have multiple formats for Kindle and Kobo available as well. Hopefully they will expend the offering in the future, but now I will be happy to make my books available in e-book format, may be even work on a few more which were planned initially but shelved for time being.

These quite nice, I can see why the price is well justified in this case:

    calypso-case10.jpg

Slovenian company Calypso Crystal continues to add a human touch to tech accessories with their new Italian leather Calypso Case. Like their remarkable, hand-polished Crystal Dock, the cases are the work of experienced craftsmen who hand-stretch the leather skin around the titanium frame in order to avoid stitching.

    calypso-case6.jpg calypso-case5.jpg

The Calypso speaks to the beauty vs. protection dilemma many iPhone users have with most protective cases. Not only is it arguably as luxurious as the device itself, but its holster-like design allows you to keep the phone secure when not in use, and still show off its glossy exterior when it is.

    calypso-case2.jpg calypso-case3.jpg

Handcrafted in four vibrant colorways, the Calypso Case works with the iPhone 4 and 4S. Pick one up at Calypso Crystal online for $119.
