Galleria Umberto I is a public shopping gallery in Naples, southern Italy. It is located directly across from the San Carlo opera house. It was built between 1887–1891, and was the cornerstone in the decades-long rebuilding of Naples that lasted until World War I. It was designed by Emanuele Rocco, who employed modern architectural elements reminiscent of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. The Galleria was named for Umberto I, King of Italy at the time of construction. It was meant to combine businesses, shops, cafes and social life — public space — with private space in the apartments on the third floor. It is a beautiful architectural masterpiece as seen here in this photograph, which you can now order for your home, condo apartment or a loft – Order your own prints today!

Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano on the Bay of Naples, Italy, about 9 kilometres east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. They were never rebuilt, although surviving townspeople and probably looters did undertake extensive salvage work after the destructions. The towns’ locations were eventually forgotten until their accidental rediscovery in the 18th century. When you are walking around the shores of the Bay of Naples, you can see Mount Vesuvius pretty much from every spot. In this beautiful photograph you get to see the fisherman boats, waters of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius in the background – Order your prints today!

Castel dell’Ovo (aka Egg Castle) is a castle located on the former island of Megaride (now a peninsula), on the gulf of Naples in Italy. The castle’s name comes from a medieval legend which tells that the Roman poet Virgil, who developed a medieval reputation as a great sorcerer as well, put a magical egg in the foundations to support them.  The current appearance dates from the Aragonese domination (15th century). It was struck by French and Spanish artillery during the Italian Wars; in the Neapolitan Republic of 1799 its guns were used by rebels to deter the philo-Bourbon population of the city. In the 19th century a small fishing village (Borgo Marinari) developed around the castle’s eastern wall. This village remains, now known for its marina and restaurants. You can order now this photography print for your home, office or apartment!

Napoli or as it is called in English, Naples is not a very big city. It is a very old city as such it has plenty of older architecture with tiny, narrow streets which are so interesting to explore. Besides lots of shops, restaurants and cafes, you will find small hotels and of course locals living in flats above. To add to the colour to the streets you often find someone laundry drying outside. This photograph illustrates such a typical street; if you love the old world Europe, you will love this image! Order your prints today!
