I was away for couple of weeks… so here is what happened in a nutshell: Boarded a plane for Europe and boarded another plane back from Europe. Now I am back in Canada, good times!

Yesterday I walked by this vintage 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air 2-Door Hardtop and I had to stop and take a few photos with my iPhone… What a beauty!
The 1957 Chevrolet is an automobile which was introduced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors in September, 1956. It was available in three series models: the upscale Bel Air, the mid-range “two-ten”, and the “one-fifty”. A two-door station wagon, the Nomad was produced as a Bel Air model. An upscale trim option called the “Delray” was available for two-ten 2-door sedans. It is a popular and sought after classic car. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified. The car’s image has been frequently used in toys, graphics, music, movies and television. The ’57 Chevy, as it is often known, is an auto icon.

Beautiful day at Sunnybrook Stables!
Posted in: Moblogging
It was a beautiful day to be out and about at the Sunnybrook Stables in a Sunnybook Park for a nice dog walk…
Sunnybrook Stables provides horseback riding lessons in the heart of Toronto. They are located in Sunnybrook Park, off Leslie Street, just North of Eglinton Avenue in mid-town Toronto. There are two outdoor sand rings, as well as a 20 by 40 meter indoor arena – assuring comfortable year round conditions for your riding lessons. Sunnybrook Stables is first and foremost a teaching facility. They offer instruction in English riding in both Hunter and Dressage on an excellent selection of school horses, ranging from novice to advanced levels. They have started literally thousands of riders, both children and adults.

We have these in Toronto as well and they are a lot of fun… I used to take a part in some of them in the past, but now I feel a little too old for it. Here are some awesome images from this year event in Berlin as featured on Flickr blog:
Easter Sunday was International Pillow Fight Day. The images here are from the Berlin feather fest. You can see photos from around the world in a search for pillow fight! or check out the International Pillow Fight Day Group.

Video: Silver & Light by Ian Ruhter
Posted in: Video
Photographer Ian Ruhter creates amazing photographs using a van that he turned into a gigantic camera. You can check out a gallery of Ruhter’s photographs here. He uses the collodion process (wet plate photography) to turn large sheets of metal into photographs:
This project was created with the same spirit that america was founded on. Our intentions are to connect everyone in america through the lens of this camera and social networking sites. We can’t do this without you. We want to tell your story and show your city or town through photographs of you, and people you know. As we travel around america looking for people and places to shoot you will be able to keep track of where we are going and help us decide where we go next. Join us in our journey by liking our facebook to get yourself photographed by us.

Japan-based art collective NAM shot this series of advertisements showing gravity-defying chocolate confections. What’s interesting about the concept is that they decided to do everything without digital trickery, opting instead to hang the various foods from thin strings.

Awesome photos…

Maho Beach outside of Princess Juliana International Airport in Sint Maarten is famous for the fact that landing airplanes fly overhead at minimal altitude. It’s one of the only places in the world where airplanes can be viewed in their flightpath just outside the end of the runway, and therefore is very popular with tourists and plane spotters. Austrian photographer Josef Hoflehner has a project titled “Jet Airliner” that consists of photos of massive jet airliners hovering over the heads of sunbathers on the beach.

You can find more of these images here. They’ve also been in a book. Jet Airliner [Josef Hoflehner] Image credits: Photographs by Josef Hoflehner and used with permission

The Surreal gravity-defying photographs of Philippe Ramette:
Crisis of casualness
Irrational contemplation
Rational exploration of the undersea : irrational walk
Between 2003 and 2006, French conceptual artist Philippe Ramette created a series of gravity-defying photographs that show him in seemingly impossible poses. These illusions were not created digitally as Ramette explains to The Guardian in 2009, “You see a tension in my hands, my red face is far from serene as the blood rushes to it, my suit is ruffled.” Web Urbanist has images and a brief explanation of how Ramette’s illusion is accomplished. via Web Urbanist photos by Philippe Ramette

Instaprint, a wireless instant photo printer for instagram:
Instaprint is a small photo printer that prints Instagram photos that are tagged with a particular location or hashtag—in essence, an Instagram photo booth. The printers use Wi-Fi to connect to Instagram, printing relevant photos moments after they are posted. The printers can even be daisy-chained together for higher volume printing. Brooklyn-based interactive agency BREAKFAST created Instaprint back in 2011 as a proof-of-concept. They are now raising funds on Kickstarter to develop Instaprint into a consumer product. photo 1 by Scott Beale, photo 2 via Instaprint

Portraits of People Showing Two Different Periods of Time:

AgeMaps is a project by photographer Bobby Neel Adams in which he does “photo surgery” on portraits to show two different moments in a person’s life in the same image. For each subject, Adams takes a childhood photo and a current photo, prints them at the same proportions, tears them in half, and glues the halves together. He says that this is to “telescope the slow process of aging into a single picture,” and that “a jump of time is established at the tear.”
